These draft Guidelines (Guidelines for Legal Practitioners/Lawyers Providing Professional Services In The Capital Market) have been prepared by the Securities and Exchange Commission (hereinafter referred to as “the SEC”) pursuant to sections 3, 146 and 209 of the Securities Industry Act, 2016 (Act 929) as amended with respect to professional services provided by legal practitioners/lawyers to SEC licensees (hereinafter referred to as “client firms”) and public companies operating within the Capital Market.

The Guidelines – Draft for Market version were first published in accordance with the Guidelines for Issuing Instruments under section 209 of the Securities Industry Act 2016 as amended on 15th September 2025 for feedback as part of the SEC’s stakeholder consultation process.

By the 10th of June 2026, almost a year after its publication, the SEC had received no feedback on the published Draft Guidelines. The SEC has therefore decided to provide a further one-week opportunity for feedback.
