Pursuant to Section 122 (2) of the Securities Industry Act, 2016 (Act 929), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 8th November 2019 revoked the licences of 53 Fund Management Companies (“FMCs”) after which investors were invited to submit their claims from 18th November 2019.
The SEC wishes to extend its appreciation to all stakeholders for their cooperation, patience, and support during this period. With the exception of initial challenges that were addressed following helpful feedback from stakeholders, the exercise has been well coordinated.
The general public is hereby informed that the deadline for submission of claims has been extended from Wednesday, 18th December 2019 to Wednesday, 15th January 2020. All investors who are yet to submit claims are advised to do so within this period
Please note that our agents will be available only at the CBG branches designated in Appendix A to receive claims from investors during the extension period. Investors are advised to visit the designated areas at the CBG branches with valid ID cards, evidence of investment claims and complete the forms.
The SEC will issue further communication on timelines for the completion of validation and commencement of payments. Acknowledgment of receipts of submissions is on-going.
